TV List

A remote app for LG TVs, on iPhone and iPad

Beam is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by LG Electronics.

Beam controls LG TVs running webOS, and LG NetCast sets from 2012 and 2013, over Wi-Fi. A webOS TV shows a request the first time; accept it with the TV's remote, or choose Use a code instead and type the code the TV shows. NetCast sets show a six digit code. Beam reconnects after that on its own.

The basic remote stays free. Some features are part of Beam Premium. Checked against Beam 1.13.0, November 2026.

Which devices work

  • LG smart TVs running webOS.
  • TVs from other brands that run webOS, such as ClassPro, Generaltec and DANSAT, where supported.
  • LG NetCast sets from 2012 and 2013, which pair with a six digit code the TV shows. On these sets Beam has no app list, no input list and no way to turn the TV on.

How to pair

  1. 01

Put your iPhone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi as the TV, not a guest network, and allow Local Network access when Beam asks.

  2. 02

Sign in with Apple or Google, then pick the LG from the list Beam shows.

  3. 03

The TV shows a request. Accept it with the TV's own remote. If it goes unanswered, tap Use a code instead and the TV shows a code to type in. A NetCast set shows a six digit code straight away.

What you can do

  • D-pad, OK, Back and Home, volume and mute, channel up and down, power, settings, and play, pause, stop, rewind and fast forward.
  • Swipe on the trackpad, which suits webOS menus.
  • Type into the TV's search boxes with the iPhone keyboard.
  • Pick an HDMI or other input from the TV's own input list.
  • Open your streaming apps from quick launch, or anything installed from All apps.
  • Send photos and videos to many LG sets through the TV's built-in media sharing.
  • Turn the TV back on from Beam, once Turn on via Wi-Fi is switched on in the TV's settings.

Trackpad, keyboard, quick launch, the input list and photo and video cast are part of Beam Premium. The basic remote stays free.

If it doesn't work

I missed the request on the TV.

Start pairing again, or tap Use a code instead, which has the TV show a code to type in rather than a request to accept.

Beam can't turn my LG on.

Turn on Turn on via Wi-Fi under Mobile TV On or TV On with Mobile in the TV's settings, then turn the TV on with its own remote once. Next time Beam can wake it. If the TV does not come on within half a minute, Beam says so and names the setting.

The phone and the TV have to be on the same Wi-Fi network, and guest networks usually keep devices apart. Check that Local Network access is on for Beam in iOS Settings, and that the TV is switched on.

Which LG TVs are not webOS?

Before webOS, LG smart TVs ran NetCast. Beam controls the NetCast sets from 2012 and 2013, which pair with a six digit code. On those sets there is no app list, no input list and no turning the TV on from Beam.

Other TVs Beam controls

Sony, VIZIO, Sharp, Panasonic, TCL, Vestel, Whale OS and Orange are on the full list of supported TVs, and the LG row has the short version of this page.
