A remote app for Philips TVs, on iPhone and iPad
Beam is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by Philips or TP Vision.
Beam controls Philips TVs over Wi-Fi. Sets that run JointSpace, Philips's own remote control service, show a four digit code the first time; type it in or scan it with the camera. Philips Android TV and Google TV sets usually pair as Google TV. Sets from 2011 and 2012 need JointSpace switched on first.
The basic remote stays free. Some features are part of Beam Premium. Checked against Beam 1.13.0, November 2026.
Which devices work
- Philips smart TVs running JointSpace.
- Philips Android TV and Google TV sets, which usually pair like any other Google TV, with a six character code.
- Sets from 2011 and 2012, once JointSpace is switched on: press 5646877223 on the TV remote while watching TV.
- Philips TVs sold in North America, with models ending in /F7 or /F8, are made by Funai on a different platform with no JointSpace, so Beam cannot control them over Wi-Fi. Funai's Philips Roku TV and Android TV models pair as Roku and Google TV.
How to pair
- 01
Put your iPhone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi as the TV, not a guest network, and allow Local Network access when Beam asks.
- 02
Sign in with Apple or Google, then pick the Philips from the list Beam shows. Keep the TV switched on.
- 03
Newer sets show a four digit code. Type it in, or tap Scan with camera and point the camera at the screen. Older sets connect straight away.

What you can do
- D-pad, OK, Back and Home, volume and mute, channel up and down, input, power, and play, pause, stop, rewind and fast forward.
- Swipe on the trackpad instead of pressing arrows.
- Send photos and videos to many Philips sets through the TV's built-in media sharing. The TV pulls them from your phone over your Wi-Fi.
- Typing from the iPhone keyboard, quick launch and turning the TV back on are not available on JointSpace sets.

Trackpad, keyboard, quick launch, the input list and photo and video cast are part of Beam Premium. The basic remote stays free.
If it doesn't work
Beam finds my Philips but will not connect.
The TV answered, but its remote control service, JointSpace, is off. Sets from 2011 and 2012 ship it that way. Press 5646877223 on the TV remote while watching TV to turn it on, then try again. A set sold in North America, with a model ending in /F7 or /F8, has no JointSpace at all, so the code does nothing there.
Beam doesn't find my Philips.
The phone and the TV have to be on the same Wi-Fi network, and guest networks usually keep devices apart. Check that Local Network access is on for Beam in iOS Settings, and that the TV is switched on.
Can Beam turn my Philips on?
Beam can turn a JointSpace set off, but these sets give it no way to wake them over the network, so turn the TV on with its own remote.
My Philips runs Android TV. How does it pair?
Usually as a Google TV: the TV shows a six character code, and you also get the keyboard and quick launch.
Other TVs Beam controls
Sony, VIZIO, Sharp, Panasonic, TCL, Vestel, Whale OS and Orange are on the full list of supported TVs, and the Philips row has the short version of this page.
